About Geeky Giving and How to Help

Be Our Superhero - Donate to Geeky GivingSFF writers and artists have been inspired by leading-edge medicine for decades. Complaints about lack of hoverboards aside, advances in medical science now sound more like our favorite science fiction novels and films than ever.

Barrow Neurological Institute is a leader in research and treatment of Parkinson’s, ALS, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, Alzheimer’s and more. Geeky Giving wants to help them continue such important work by raising money on their behalf.

Our goal is to harness the power of talented writers and artists to offer exclusive short stories or novellas, drawings and other creations—all inspired by the neurosciences—in exchange for donations through a web-based sale and delivery. We will run these online promotions beginning this winter and culminating at the Phoenix ComicCon in July 2016, where we hope to be successful enough to hold a capstone event. (Yes, that means a party!)

In exchange for your donated work, we will promote the creator’s involvement on our website, in social media, to the press and in any other way we can dream up between now and then. Participants will also be getting a huge dose of that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from Dogoodery.

Geeky Giving is a strictly volunteer committee who are connected to the science fiction community. One hundred percent of the money raised from this event will be donated to Barrow Neurological Institute (thebarrow.org), one of the world’s leading facilities for breakthroughs in the neurosciences.

If you want to participate, the sky is the limit. Full mission specs available, just ask. Want to just donate signed swag to help the cause or have a different idea than what we already laid out? Contact us and let’s figure out how to make it happen! We hope you’re as excited as we are to get this passionate community supporting the vital research and treatment that changes lives at Barrow.
